Galway City Harriers Weekly Training Sessions

This page is dedicated to the Galway City Harriers Weekly Training Sessions.


Galway City Harriers athletes in the marathon training group are meeting three times a week for the team sessions:

SPEED ON TRACK

Tuesdays 7.00pm-8:30pm

A regular club track session at the NUIG Running track in Dangan, Galway. This session is for NUIG students, long distance athletes and the marathon training group.
Warm-up and drills beforehand at 7pm around hockey pitch. Club track session at the Athletics Track in Dangan 7:30pm to 8:30pm.


THRESHOLD SESSION

Thursdays 6:30pm –  7.30pm  Tempo/Threshold Run – Dangan GAA pitch (Summer) or Westside (Winter)

This session is more dedicated to the marathon group, but all are welcome.
Warm-up done (ensure you warm-up 20 mins before the session), session starts at 6.30pm
Tempo/Threshold session starts at the GAA pitch in Dangan (during the summer) or at the Westside, in front of the basket ball pitch (during the winter)

SUMMER IN DANGAN / ALONG CORRIB RIVER, meeting at 6.30pm :

WINTER IN WEST-SIDE (around the west-side Playing fields : 1.1km loop), meeting at 6.30pm:


LONG RUN

Sunday 8:00am- 9.30am Long Run – Exit of Dangan

The Sunday morning run starting in Dangan, aat the entrance on the N59 ( Moycullen road ). It has become an institution. This is about 11 miles. Here is a picture of the 11 miles loop:

We starts at about 5 min/km (8 min/mile) during the first 4 miles, then some groups will accelerate. Don’t be late, the start at 8 am sharp:
