August diet:
The August seasonal Fruits and Vegetables table will give you details on what to include in your diet this month.
This month, we are at the end of the summer and the fresh salads and fruits can help our bodies fight off the heat. If we are lucky enough, we may spend a few weeks travelling on summer holidays sampling new foods and local cuisine.
Mediteranean Diet:
Coming from a Mediteranean country, our recipes require lots of vegetables. This is a month when we are still spending a lot of time eating outdoors. I personally love Ratatouille, (Ratatouille original recipe in French or the Jamie Oliver’s Recipe) all I add is rice to the original recipe to ensure I get enough carbohydrates.
With so many fresh fruits and vegetables available this month, we have a great variety of recipes.
I personally prefer this month as its abundant with fresh salads and fresh summer fruits which are full of vital vitamins and as we are still eating outside, we are also getting plenty of vitamin D from the glorius sunshine.
Nutrients for the body:
Our bodies need good nutrients to work / perform well. By eating fruits and vegetables which are in season, ensures we get the best quality nutrients.
